Hello! My name is Brett Ballard.
I strive to capture the splendor of the world around us. With “parks” becoming nothing but man-made ponds and fields in the middle of shopping malls, we’re slowly forgetting just how wonderful nature and the outdoors is. My images help bring those outdoor scenes and memories back to our family room.
I shoot mostly landscapes, use a 4×5 field camera, and thoroughly enjoy using traditional film. Why 4×5? I could say it’s for the size and quality of prints you can get, but that’s not really the reason. I’ve owned just about every size and type of camera out there (my closet proves it) and no camera quite gives the same feeling. It’s like comparing a ’67 Mustang to all the Prii (plural of Prius) out there today. The Prius just doesn’t give the same feeling to the driver or the viewer.
I also have to give thanks to my beautiful wife, Karen, for playing partner and pack mule on many of our trips and outings. She’s an art teacher for Xenia Christian and bides her time creating homemade jewelry. You can see some of her work at Ballard Kreations.
